 Wereldcircusdag met deelname van veel ECA - leden
De eerste Wereldcircusdag werd op 17 april in 36 landen gevierd en georganiseerd door de Fédération Mondiale du Cirque. Nadat de European Circus Association (ECA) de Europese Circusdag in 2008 in het leven had geroepen, ontwikkelde zich dit Europese evenement tot een wereldwijde gebeurtenis.
De dag werd met de daadwerkelijke ondersteuning van de European Circus Association voorbereid en het wereldwijde succes kan o.a. aan de fantastische medewerking van veel ECA-leden worden toegeschreven. Zowel in Duitsland als in Nederland, Italië, Spanje, Frankrijk, Scandinavië en in Oost-Europa: op deze dag werd het circus “in al zijn veelzijdigheid” – citaat van prinses Stephanie van Monaco – geëerd en kon het publiek genieten van het rijke aanbod.
Klassiek en modern circus, circus festivals, circusvrienden en historische circusverenigingen, professionele jeugdcircussen, musea en bibliotheken met circusverzamelingen, lokale politici, openbare cultuurorganisaties en staatscircussen vierden gezamenlijk.

ECA Circusdieren fonds De European Circus Association heeft een Circusdieren Fonds gevormd.
Met de bijdragen aan dit fonds is de ECA beter in staat om activiteiten te ondernemen, die de rechten van circussen en dierentrainers beschermen, waardoor ze ook in de toekomst dieren als onderdeel van het klassieke circus kunnen presenteren. Het ECA bestuur staat er garant voor dat bijdragen aan het Circusdieren fonds exclusief voor dat doel bestemd zullen worden. Om bijdragen aan het fonds te stimuleren maakt de ECA elk jaar een nieuwe verzamelspeld (pin). De ECA pin van 2009 toont een kameel, een dier dat dikwijls in de piste te zien is. De eerste ECA verzamelspeld (2008) met een tijger erop is ook nog verkrijgbaar. De nieuwe ECA pin voor 2010:  Voor niet ECA leden kost de pin € 5,- per stuk.
Vanwege bank- en verzendkosten moeten tenminste 5 spelden besteld worden.

Why ECA? Circus is Culture
The classical circus is known through out the world as a variety of acts presented in a central ring involving artistic displays, acrobatics, clowns, music, animals, and mind-boggling feats of strength, beauty and daring. The modern European circus can be traced to London around 1770. Today more than 1,000 circuses thrive across Europe. Many are owned or managed by and feature talented descendants of the original great circus families. The European Circus Association (ECA) was established to promote circus arts and culture, thereby protecting this important part of our shared heritage. |
ECA offers proposed model regulation for the care, transport and presentation of animals in the circus ECA Supports the Establishment of Good Regulations The European Circus Association (ECA) strongly supports the establishment of appropriate regulations to ensure the welfare of all animals under human care. Concerning animals in circuses, there is no legal basis for European Community wide legislation.
